Kritya: Climate-Smart & Rural Solar Initiative
Project Brief:
Kritya is a community climate-resilience project that combines clean solar energy adoption, energy-efficient smokeless cookstoves, and youth environmental leadership in rural peri-urban blocks of Uttar Pradesh.
Project Context:
Frequent power outages and heavy reliance on biomass firewood create severe indoor air pollution and limit evening study hours for rural students. Kritya deploys decentralized clean energy solutions to safeguard respiratory health and empower students.
Project Goal:
To improve energy access, reduce carbon emissions, and foster community-led environmental stewardship through solar lighting, clean cooking, and student green clubs.
Project Objectives:
- •Distribute 1,000+ portable solar study lamps to students facing power deficit.
- •Install solar street lighting at 20 critical village intersections for night safety.
- •Train rural youth in basic solar panel maintenance and installation vocations.
- •Promote environmental awareness and tree planting through Eco Clubs.
Project Activities:
Solar Study Lamps Deployment:
Equipping high school board students with reliable solar study lamps, enabling an additional 2-3 hours of study daily.
Youth Solar Technician Training:
Conducting certified 4-week vocational workshops on solar panel assembly, inverter wiring, and maintenance.
Community Green Drives:
Planting 3,000 native shade and fruit trees across community common lands with village youth participation.
